Fireworks

fireworks

All Piano.  The sad one, when it all falls apart, and all that’s left is gritting teeth and ash.  This was from a time when I stayed too long, or maybe she stayed too long, but if you’ve been there, you know that point where you can’t see past the heat to the person standing in front of you anymore.

Darling this is where we began
Striking the same tired chord, wearing out our hope
Like a medal, or a cardigan,
Holding onto indecision like a life-boat…
Didn’t we ever really trust each other or
Were we faking that as well
Trusting instead that our skin was tougher and
We could whether any kind of hell
Darling show me your teeth so I can see you’re smiling
Give me a sign so I can tell you’re not lying…
We’re all fireworks and flamboyance these days anyway
If we have to burn we’re better off not trying…
Verse:
I can’t remember ever coming home,
Without the fear of walking in on our end
I also can’t reemeber ever not wondering what it’d
Be like to get someone else into my bed
Darling, is this all we have
When did we start to arm ourselves
Gritting our teeth, standing on circumstance which
Never existed outside our head.
Chorus.
Bridge:
Baby I miss seeing you for who you were
I miss forgetting that I really never knew you.
I miss everything about our recklessness and..
Loving fearfully and holding on for life.
chorus
