Long Face

I don’t know why, but this is one of my favorite of my slow songs.  It has simplicity and complexity in the harmony, and achieves what I wanted to in the lyrics.  The demo itself is a little rough, the time is off on some chunks, and the piano lines don’t line up as tightly as they should.  Still, a song I’d love to see go somewhere.

Where Are Our Sundays

So the chorus section is three bars of 5/4 and one bar of 15/8, because reasons.  Honestly, it doesn’t really sound very technical, but it was just the feel that I needed so there it is.  Otherwise, I think it’s a pretty nice song.  

Up Up Down Down

Sometimes we fight.  Sometimes it’s hard to take that too seriously, and sometimes everything good left the room long before you’re done breathing fire.  This is all about a fun jazz pop feel, with a stick bass and competent (read not mine) harmonies.

Victory

Why a horse? Well, the subject of the song steps off her high one at one point, and this horse is climbing a mountain, so it’s got that going for it.  I suppose at this point I should share my highly involved image selection methodology for this site.  I go on flickr, I input the song title and filter by creative commons pictures (all of these pics are attributed with links back to the source page on flickr).  If I don’t like what the title drags up, I pick a different line.  Rinse and repeat.  Because music is more fun with pictures.

Anyhow, this song is about a lot of things.  The demo is somewhat rough and bear, but there’s a part of me that hears it as a prog rock anthem, just because that would be fun.
